What is a custom-built powered wheelchair?

A custom-built powered wheelchair is a type of mobility device that is specifically designed and built to meet the needs of an individual user. It is powered by an electric motor and may include customizations made by the manufacturer to serve the user's needs better.  However, it is important to note that only customizations made by the manufacturer are included in the cover on our policies.  Any personal or third-party modifications made to a powered wheelchair will mean that it is not be covered by our mobility scooter insurance policies. 

In summary, customisations are covered as long as they have been made by the manufacturer.
